Where myth and history meet local culture and tastes
Naxos Town: Food, People & Heritage

Naxos Town offers an ideal synthesis of the island’s past and present. Together with a professional guide, travelers connect with the true character of the island – its rich historical past and current gastronomic traditions. Our story begins at the Temple of Apollo (Portara) with the narration about the island’s first inhabitants and the mythology that shaped their presence. We continue to an on-site excavation museum and unto the top of the Venetian Castle area where a great art collection of pre –historic Cycladic figurines will complete the island’s cultural frame.  From the historical port to the crowning castle, the Venetian Old Town with its quaint alleyways -where the food market is awake- passing by a traditional wood-fire bakery, colorful fruit stands and stalls with aromatic herbs and spices, we invite travelers to enjoy sampling of local delicacies including a delicious orange cake, variety of fine, local Naxian cheeses with a glass of wine and traditional bakery snacks. The food tour is filled with the promise of more traditional mezes and local delights with delightful sensations of Naxian gastronomy at a traditional taverna where we all experience the tastes of the island at a hospitable table!

Natasha is an amazing guide. Do not miss the chance to do this food walking tour with her. Do not eat before you go. All the stops you go to have plenty of food and drink. She will fill your mind with her knowledge of both the history of the food and of coarse the places you visit.

What a great way to experience Naxos!
Georgina was an incredible tour guide - sharing the rich history and mythology of the island. My wife and I had a great experience both walking through the town as well as stopping to sample local cheese, wine, and a hearty lunch! Was a highlight of the 10 days we spent in Greece. Highly recommend this!
