Naxos Wine & Mythology Sunset Tour

The Ancient God of Wine Was Born on Naxos!

Experience the magic of Greek mythology and wine under the golden glow of the setting sun. Begin your evening with a leisurely seaside walk, as your expert guide brings to life the captivating tales of the Olympian Gods — the adventures of Odysseus, the power of Poseidon, and the divine intrigues of Mount Olympus.

Your walk leads uphill to the medieval castle of Naxos, where breathtaking views await at its summit. As you walk through the winding alleys of the old town, step into an 800-year-old Venetian wine cellar and gallery. Here, savor three glasses of local wine paired with delicious Naxian cheese, while your guide introduces you to Dionysus, god of wine and revelry, and the ancient Greek symposiums that celebrated friendship and pleasure. During this intimate mini-symposium, view replicas of ancient Greek vases depicting Dionysian myths and feastings, brought to life through engaging storytelling. Conclude your tasting with a sip of rakomelo — raki infused with honey and cinnamon — the true nectar of the gods.

Continue your stroll through the old town toward the waterfront, where every step echoes with the myths of the ancient world. Pause at picture-perfect spots for memorable photos. Once back to the waterfront sunset walk to the famous ‘ Portara” the Great Gate of the temple of Apollo. Enjoy sunset while Helios the sun god paints the sky with the last translucent shades of pink and amber before he sets into the Blue Aegean.

Incredible tour! Must-do in Naxos
You can't miss this tour! The mythology in Naxos is so fascinating and our tour guide Labrina did an absolutely phenomenal job explaining all of the stories while making meaningful connections to everyday life. It was the highlight of our trip to Naxos. It's a must-do and you see parts of Naxos town we wouldn't have known to see. It's also amazing to see the sunset over the temple of Apollo. Highly recommend!

Exceptional Tour in Naxos (Don’t Miss Out!)
Our guide Labrina was wonderful! She did an amazing job explaining the fascinating mythology of Naxos while weaving in historical information and information about wine. I don’t know if our trip to Naxos would have been as incredible as it was without her! We were able to see parts of Naxos that we didn’t know about as first time travelers to the island. We were so inspired by our tour, we visited a number of places again the next day. The wine tasting was a highlight as well. Highly recommend!!

A very special tour experience!
What a memorable, relaxed experience! This tour is special because it’s more conversational and intimate. It’s about sharing stories and understanding how Greek mythology ties in with the world around us, the wine we drink the food we eat the ocean and sky that surrounds us. Katia brought us around Naxos town, sharing stories with us and local food and drink. We weaved through the narrow alleys of the old city enjoying good conversation, rich history and appreciation of the amazing views. It was a very relaxed and welcoming experience and I highly recommend. Thank you for the lovely evening Katia!

Fantastic Tour!
We had a fantastic experience on this tour and would recommend it to anyone interested in mythology. Our tour guide, Labrina, was absolutely amazing. She was knowledgeable and funny, and you could tell that she really loved the subject matter. She did a fantastic job of telling the myths and really connecting the stories back to the island of Naxos. We had no idea how connected the island was to Greek mythology, and her blend of storytelling, history, and humor made for a very fun tour. The pace of the tour was very comfortable - she kept us in the shade when possible, and we had several breaks (two of which included refreshments). The climb to the Gate of Apollo was pleasant, and watching the sunset from that vantage point is not to be missed. Finally, Labrina gave several excellent recommendations for restaurants when the tour was over, and she even walked several of us to a hard-to-find restaurant in the Old Town after the tour was over!
