We invite you to join us for an exciting island tour of the villages of Naxos, which stimulates all five senses. Our tour begins with some “food for thought” and a visit to the site of the unfinished colossal archaic statue, known also as Apollo, which has been sleeping in a garden for centuries before its discovery by local farmers.  After a glimpse to the island’s ancient past, we drive from village to village where we enjoy a different course of a meal at each different location!

Indulge in local homemade starters at an off-the beaten path small village, continue to the highlands of Naxos passing the marble quarries and enjoy cheese, wine and main course full of flavor at the mountain village of Apeiranthos, known for its marble streets and medieval architecture. Dessert is as special as our next village stop: Chalki is the former capital of the island where we’ll taste Naxos’ famous citron liquor at a 100-year-old distillery and, as an exceptional treat, savor the locally- prepared custard pie. Drive back with treasured memories filled with a true taste of Naxian life, now and then.

Our tour begins with a drive inland Naxos, to the unspoiled -off the beaten path- tiny village of Kaloxylos where time stands still…  On the way, while driving through the oldest olive grove of the island with over 800 years old olive trees, we discuss about food and the tastes of Naxos. On arriving, we follow picturesque alleyways leading to a 100 year old olive press factory. Connect with our local centuries -old local tradition, taste local olive products and learn about olive pressing techniques. Then, just as the Greeks do, enjoy sitting outdoors for a glass of local wine and more local “farm-to table” finger food including our famous Naxian cheese. Continue with a walk through the village to reach the olive grove fields and hike through a peaceful natural environment where we discuss all about the historic presence of olive trees on the island and the current techniques of harvesting. Our nature walk will lead us to Chalki village, quaint old capital of Naxos where we enjoy a memorable Mediterranean  gastronomy experience with traditional dishes, more local wine and homemade desert. Notes:

This experience includes a guided walk of approximately 2 miles (3 km) on mostly at terrain, with several stops along the way. Guests should be comfortable walking this distance at a relaxed pace. The tour begins in Kerami Village, continues through Kaloxylos, and concludes with a delightful lunch in Chalki Village. As the route is one-way (non-circular), please note that joining midway or leaving before the end is not possible.
