Together with your expert certified guide, enjoy an immersive tour of the island, behind the scenes and beyond guidebooks. You will visit the famous landmarks of Naxos, which bridge the monumental past with contemporary life.  You’ll discover the island’s largest wheat field and the nearby temple of Demeter -ancient Greek goddess of agriculture and delve into the myth of the changing seasons.  Walking step by step through unspoiled green farm land, discover Apollo’s colossal, mystery statue “sleeping”  for centuries before being unearthed by local farmers. After experiencing the treasures of antiquity, we leave the plain driving to the highlands.  Passing the marble quarries of Naxos, we travel ‘off-the-beaten path’ to explore the small village of Kaloxylos, enjoying a short walk through its picturesque streets before reaching the Old Olive Press factory, which houses a 100 year old olive press. Here, a presentation takes us back in time to discover the authentic process and tools for early production of olive oil, followed by olive oil tasting & local products. More of the magnificent history of Naxos awaits you in the enchanting mountain village of Apeiranthos, known for its marble streets and medieval architecture.  Sample local cheeses with a glass of wine and savor Naxian tastes full of local flavor.   After lunch, we visit  the quaint village of Chalki- old capital of the island –  for a sip of local “kitron” digestive liquor at the old distillery where – following the 120 years old traditional process- it is still produced today. We end our day with a taste of homemade  Naxian desert, for sweet memories of a truly authentic journey.
